How to Care for Your Tree

A long standing customer of ours, Ben, owner of Green Bee Gardening has helped us put together some top tips to look after your tree and keep it looking healthier for longer so you can make sure it lasts the Christmas season.

If you have any further questions then please never hesitate to contact us (details here)

🌲 Tip 1 (a must)

Cut a couple of inches off the bottom of the tree and remove any low branches. This will open the pores and encourage the tree to take in water. Don’t worry if that sounds like a faff, our lovely team will do it on site for you, no charge of course! You can read more about our services here.

🌲 Tip 2 (a must)

Plant the tree directly into water and nothing else (for example soil or sand). From this point on it should always be in water until Christmas is over 😁

🌲 Tip 3 (a must)

Water the tree regularly to make sure the trunk is constantly at least an inch under the water to allow it to drink. If the water runs out the fresh cut will quickly reseal itself and then drink nothing! So keep an eye on it, as under watering is the main cause of needle drop!

🌲 Tip 4 (as much as you can/is practical)

Place the tree away from radiators, fires or wood burners. The heat will dry the tree out too fast. Very warm rooms will have a similar effect.

🌲 Tip 5

Don’t worry if that sounds like a faff, our lovely team will do it on site for you, no charge of course!

🌲 Tip 6

Turn off the tree lights when not needed, the lights can dry out the surrounding needles if left on for too long.

🌲 Tip 7

Do not use hairspray on trees. This will not prevent the needles from dropping. This will only waste hairspray and make the tree flammable (and smell bad)!

🌲 Tip 8 (a must again!)

Water! Water! Water! 😁
